Mathew Scholtz and Westby Racing Are Fired Up For WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca This Weekend
Tulsa, OK – July 10, 2019 –
Round six of the 2019 MotoAmerica Superbike Championship starts this Friday at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, and Mathew Scholtz and the Westby Racing team are ready to join the stars of the Superbike World Championship at one of the world’s most iconic race courses.
Mathew is aboard the #11 Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike today as he and the team test at California’s Buttonwillow Raceway. From there, they will head straight to Laguna Seca for this weekend’s MotoAmerica Championship of Monterey.
“The first half of this season has been a bit of a learning experience for us with the new electronics system on our Superbike,” Mathew said. “We definitely figured some stuff out at the last round in Utah, and I’m anxious to get this second half of the season started. We’re testing today, and then we’ll go to Laguna Seca, which is one of my favorite tracks and a place where we did quite well last year. We’ve had a good break since Utah, and I’m excited to get to ride today at the test, and then again at Laguna Seca on Friday and through the weekend. The more seat time, the better. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 3:15 PM Pacific Time, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday also at 3:15 PM Pacific. Both races will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 2 (FS2), and streamed on MotoAmerica Live+.

The Paddock Show pavilion at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca will host two “Meet ’n Greet” sessions--Saturday from 5:45 PM to 6:00 PM and Sunday from 11:45 AM to 11:55 AM--where you can meet Mathew.
