Tulsa, OK – April 11, 2019 – 

This weekend, Mathew Scholtz and the Westby Racing team return to the track where they notched a victory in last year’s MotoAmerica Superbike Championship, en route to Mathew being named MotoAmerica Superbike Rookie of the Year. The MotoAmerica Championship of Texas begins tomorrow at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, on the world stage during this weekend’s Red Bull Grand Prix of The Americas.

 

Mathew and the team are carrying a lot of positive momentum into COTA after last weekend’s MotoAmerica round one at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta where they earned a Superpole podium, a fourth-place Saturday race finish, and a runner-up result in Sunday’s race. The #11 Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 is in peak form in 2019, with factory-level electronics on-board, a topnotch crew, and Mathew clearly one of MotoAmerica’s best and brightest talents.

 

“COTA brings back some really good memories for me,” Mathew said. “Also, this past weekend, we made a huge step forward with the bike from Saturday’s race to Sunday’s race, and we collected even more valuable data. I spoke with the crew after Road Atlanta, and we have some really good ideas to make the bike even better, so I’m really looking forward to getting back out on track. We picked up some more horsepower compared with last year, and that’s going to help us a lot at COTA. It’s definitely one of my favorite circuits, and I’m very excited to be with the Westby Racing family, see the fans, and get on the bike again for two weekends in a row.”

 

Superbike Superpole (Qualifying) is on Friday at 5 PM Central Time, Superbike Race 1 will go green on Saturday at 4:15 PM Central Time, and Superbike Race 2 is on Sunday at 3:30 PM Central Time.

Both Superbike races will be broadcast on Fox Sports 2 this weekend as well as on MotoAmerica Live+, which is MotoAmerica’s live streaming and on-demand service. The NBC Sports Network show “Inside MotoAmerica” will air the following weekend.

 

Meet Mathew And Get An Autographed Poster

Tonight, from 6 to 7 PM, be sure to stop by Woods Fun Center at 11405 North I-35 in Austin. Mathew will be there to meet fans, sign autographs, and give away posters.

 

Mathew will also be available for autographs at the Westby Racing team transporter in the MotoAmerica Paddock on Saturday morning from 11 to 11:45 AM.
